in shower is backwards and difficult to regulate. Bathroom sink had no vanity to put your toiletries and you have to sit your bag on the floor. Pillows were tiny and I really didn't care for the fabric headboard on the bed, seemed unsanitary as other people have their hair on it and you know it isn't cleaned. Looked like the only place that you could have parked close to your room and actually had a spot would have been at the Bright Angel cabins. The property is NOT handicapped friendly at all!!!!!!! Have to go up multiple sets of steps ( dragging your luggage ) to get to your room. It took us nearly an hour of circling to get a place to park. So, then you have to drive the entire loop road to get back to this lodge.

You have to check-in at the Bright Angel lodge which is past here, that is if you're lucky enough to get a spot to park to check-in. I'd pay for that view again and again.īooked room six months out and had to plan entire trip around only night we could get a room here. The cost is pricey for the size of the room, but you are paying for the view. Another great thing about this location is that we were able to go out and see the sunrise-and all the mule deer that gathered near the edge of the canyon-every morning. We strategically picked up some breakfast things, snacks, and disposable plates and cutlery at a grocery store in Flagstaff-I'd highly recommend doing that so you are not dependent upon the restaurants within the park (since they still seem to be very short-staffed). The room has a refrigerator but no microwave. The biggest draw was the view-and boy, what a view (we were in Room 6240)! It was hard to believe that we could just open the shades and see the canyon each morning. The room was not large, but it met our needs just fine. I know not to expect too much from some of the lodges in the national parks, but I was pleasantly surprised by our room and experience here. Our family of four stayed here for three nights.
